My Book Reviews

Posted in: Home after Walking the Camino | Comments (1)

At Starbucks today Maris S. came over to me and told me she enjoyed my book. Walking the Walk Camino de Santiago

She said it had been laying there for ever and she just didn’t get around to until just lately.
See repeated that see like the story.

I had forgotten about my book. It was 4 years ago when I published it. I think Marie and her husband, Wendell were one the first few people who received my book.

Thank you Marie!

My book is:
Walking the Walk, Camino de Santiago by Marty Metras 2012
It can found on LuLu.com, Amazon.com, and Barnes & Nobles

Or you could even get a copy from me.

Another review found on Amazon:

****O, Not A Bad Little Book
on June 15, 2015
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was drawn to this book given the age of the author as I (a little older than Marty) am looking at doing the Way in the spring of 2016, all things being equal. On the whole I found the book informative and entertaining. It could have benefited from some editing/proof reading. While not a “classic”, it was worth the reading.

On Barnes & Nobles it tells me I need to learn more

Not very informative.

I would not recommend as it’s written like a diary and it’s not very well either. There are many other books on the subject which are more informative, though as the saying goes – “You get what you pay for”!

Almost 5 years

It is almost 5 years since I headed  to Spain to walk the Camino. I was thinking very hard about going again in 2017. It is not going the happen the spring.
I notices it would cost less for the round trip air far and it cost me 5 year ago for the one way ticket I had.

Part of this is the cost of fuel and part is the Euro to Dollar value.

2012  years a gallon of gasoline cost about $4.10. I just paid $2.13
2012  for me to exchange US Dollars for Euros, I paid about $1.67. Now it is $1.08 for each.
2012 I paid $685 to fly for Chicago ro Paris then to Biarritz France. This time I can fly from Chicago, Paris, then Biarritz France then after Walking the Walk I can fly from Santiago Spain, to Paris then back to Chicago for about $642.

Maybe I should go anyway. Na, I don’t want to go. But I could gather my things and be ready to go on a monuments notice!

I installed WordPress’s JetPack just now. I want to monitor to see how this site is doing.

The stats program in it looks to be quite well.

Anyone else using it?

Will I Get Lost?

It seems they are removing the Mile(Kilometer) makers on the Camino.

I found this Interesting.

What is happening with the milestones on the Camino?

Email Feedback, from March 2016

Posted in: Home after Walking the Camino | Comments (1)

What went wrong? I sent out about 1,100 emails out last month and did not receive one kick backed email. Meaning, are all of those email address valid or do I missed something? Is there a problem? I always get one or two bad email addressed. Hmmm!

I will check my mail server and see if they are stuck. My Brother told me he got 3 newsletter.  I can believe that because he is in the system under 3 different email addresses. I also got three for the same reason. It are those other 1,100 emails I am wondering about.

I will investigate and see if they are some where in LaLa Land. Hummm!
